Changes to U7 & U9 Programs
Attention U7 & U9 Parents/Guardians. Recently MMHA was notified this week that the league is participating in a new pathway pilot program this season.

Some changes starting this season include,
- U9 will now play full ice hockey games all season from Nov 1st to seasons end.
- U9 will consist of only of players born in 2017 (MMHA can add up to four 2018 born players to fill a team)
- U9 will feature all the rules of higher divisions, with the exception of special teams (No powerplays, play always remains 5vs5)
- U8/U7 will now feature any remaining 2018 players, as well as 2019 & 2020 players.
- U8/U7 will now play half ice games for the entirety of the season. We are awaiting word on if 2021 and younger players will be able to participate in games as well or if they will just practice with the group.
- U8/U7 will play all games with no score, buzzer ending shifts, no offsides, no icing, no faceoffs etc.
- MMHA must ensure a 2:1 Practice to Game Ratio for the entire season.
Because of the late notice the board has decided that we will keep the pricing advertised this season regardless of the changes to the programs and will absorb the additional costs for this season and re-adjust pricing next season. If you have already paid for your 2018 born player expecting they would be in the U9 program and they get sent back to the U8 program you will receive a refund. If your 2018 player makes the full ice U9 team, your expected fee of $550 will remain the same.
